When the new Wood Wheaton dealership on Highway 16 west opens, it will mean new jobs for some people. “We have a capacity for 20 mechanics” says wood Wheaton’s Tom Sentes “and we have facilities we didn’t offer before like the Quick Lube and the carwash, so those will require new employees.”
When the facility opens May 1st, it will have been nearly a year since construction began on the 36 thousand square foot facility. With most of the work carried out by local contractors, the project is expected to have a final bill somewhere between $5 and $10 million dollars.
Covering nearly 7 acres of property, the new dealership uses more than a 100 miles of wire and cable for electrical needs, will use 87 thousand watts of power to light up the parking lot, and had more than 5 miles of saw cuts in the concrete inside to prep the floor. The mechanic bays include wireless fluid distribution , new laser technology for balancing wheels and a 30 thousand pound hydraulic lift for heavy duty vehicles.

The grand opening is set for June.
As for the old site at Victoria and the Gateway, President Craig Wood says there are possibilities “We may sell, or lease and we have some internal ideas”.
