Goonery- is the practice of hiring tough guys to beat up on the opposition. Outside of the NHL, the only other place where this is allowed and encouraged is in the military and the mafia.

In this day and age, when we are teaching our youth the wrongs of bullying and advocating on behalf of ending violence, I find it extremely disturbing that our Mayor and Council would agree to host an event which exploits violence, as a form of entertainment.

I encourage Mayor and Council, as civic leaders, and landlords of the CN Centre, to sit with Leisure Services and the Prince George Athletic Commission and examine the long-term negative impact and moral wrongs of hosting the goonery event will have on our city, our youth and the overall vision, mission and core values of Council.

It may take many years for Prince George to recover from the negative image which our city will acquire from hosting the – Battle of the Hockey Enforcers, especially since no other morally conscientious-minded jurisdiction in Canada will.

Do we want our tax dollars supporting such a degrading conduct? Where does that lead a civil society?

I guess we should get rid of boxing, womens boxing, kung fu as well because the promote violence?
Jeez, now I wouldn't mind seeing a bit of "mud wrestling" when we get done with the "mud slinging."
Now these ladies that supposedly are going to accompany the "goons" (guess they are the "goonies.) Well I think a bit of a pit full of mud should be centre stage also, and let the "goonies" put on a bit of a show for the ticket buyers for this event. In those itsy, bitsy, teensy, weeny, little, showing lots, bikinis, I bet they would steal the show!!!!! Then we need a coupla' "bookies" on the side taking the bets. Open the bar early, and to hell with a limit on the drinks!!!!! Let's turn this into a real blast, and them old crosses burning will look like people had a reason to burn 'em, as Prince George gains a new reason for a "Newsbreak" on T. V. I bet every city would be busting down the doors of those hot shot promoters trying to book the "goons and goonies" showtime.
This council has got loads of vision, and the main mission is to extort more money from the public, and what the hell are morals and values. At least the rest of the world will know we are here. What is that they say, "Bad publicity is better than none at all?" Keep that guy from Winnipeg, or wherever, here at City Hall. He's got the right idea for gettin' us on the map. Cheers!!!
