The cheque for $75 thousand will go towards paying the bills associated with ther CDC's expansion which cost $1.5 million dollras. "With this funding we are 90% there of covering the cost" says Jarbek.
The expansion opened up the lower level of the Strathcona Avenue facility, creating 6,000 square feet of new space for classrooms, and freeing up the main floor for therapy and development.
Significant donations have come from some other sources, including $450 thousand from the Variety Club, in-kind donations of trades people from CNC to build the expansion, and $150 thousand from the City of Prince George for the new HVac system.
Also on hand for the presentation was MLA Pat Bell, who noted the Child Development Centre in Prince George is an organization second to none, and is viewed "as a model for the rest of the Province."
