CIty Hall Calls Special Meeting on Hockey Enforcer Issue

There will be a special meeting of Council at City Hall this evening (7:00)  to discuss the Battle of the Hockey Enforcers issue.

The  booking of the  event at CN Centre has caused an uproar in Prince George, as  residents  say the  event will further tarnish Prince George's reputation.

The event pits 16  hockey players against each other,  and wearing boxing gloves, the guys on skates will  duke it out at centre ice.  The promoter has tried, and failed to have this event  staged in other cities, but  for one reason or another, the chosen sites  shut it down.

Here in Prince George,  the Athletic Comission  says the boxing gloves  are to be weighed, and if the right weight,  the  fight has a green light.

Called the "Goon Show" by many angered residents, the show they say sends thre wrong message to our young, and to the rest of the country on what Prince George is all about.

The City's Manager, George Paul will present a report to Council this evening,  the exact nature of the report is not clear.

Hey Brian

Thank you very much for what you have done. Now my son's minor hockey fees will increase because the city will get sued for 10 million dollars by the promoters.

Good job ..... how do you sleep at night.
