Pine Centre Mall has added another major retailer to its property, namely the B.C. Liquor Commission.
Pine Centre's General Manager, Rick Nelson says "This will mark the beginning of phase 2 of the Mall's plan to re-develop and re-establish itself as a destination shopping spot in Prince George. The first phase was the renovation of the food court area." (see previous story)
The new 12,000 square foot liquor store will be located on the corner of the property which fronts on Massey and Westwood, it is the spot that was once home to the Sears repair shop.
The Parkwood Liquor store and the 10th Avenue liquor store will be closed in order to have the new site developed. The 46 employees (including 28 auxiliaries) of the existing two stores are expected to move over to the new operation.
Along with the Liquor store, there will be three other businesses in a second building, and plans for a third building should be detailed soon.
Nelson says while construction has yet to begin, it is hoped the new "Signature" liquor store will be open this fall.
