School District 57 is sending a letter off to the Provincial Government asking for some financial relief  from spiralling fuel costs.

Trustee Lynn Hall says the District  transports 57 hundred students, and covers 11,500 kms every day.  in 2004 / 05  fuel cost increases October to June  added $29 thousand dollars to the bus agreement.

From September '05 to January '06 rising fuel costs added another 75 thousand dollars to the bill.  Hall says it would be fair for the Province to contribute some of the tax it gains on the higher fuel costs to the school district.

Chairman Bill Christie says it is clear Prince George moves more children over more kilometres more efficiently than any other District, and some sort of  financial compensation would be  positive recognition for a job well done.
