Police say  strong winds are to blame for small fires at Summit Lake.  The wind blew trees on to a  power line sparking the fires, one of which was burning within 30 feet of a residence.

Initially, police had indicated the fires were in the Minabubi Bay Road area, but now say the exact location was Palace Road.

Police are  crediting the Summit Lake Volunteer fire brigade and local residents  with preventing the flames from spreading to a nearby home.

Although there has been no  word on anyone being hurt, Police say an ambulance had been dispatched to the scene to be on standby, and two police cruisers were sent to the area.

Hydro is out in the area, and B.C. Hydro is also responding.
