Prince George RCMP have started gathering all their missing persons files to try and narrow down the possible identity of human remains found in Cottonwood Island Park.

The remains were discovered yesterday by a park user who notified police.

The police forensics and the Coroner attended the scene, the remains have since been removed and will be sent to Kamloops.

At this point, police say the remains were such that they were not able to determine gender, or possible cause of death.
