The tax bylaw has been passed, and starting tomorrow, Prince George City Hall will start mailing out the property tax notices.

While the municipal budget calls for a 3.39% increase in spending, the actual change in your taxes involves a couple of other factors:

  • the change in the assessment of your  property and
  • the addition of  other taxes on your bill.

The City has produced this table to show you how many dollars per $1,000 of assessment you can expect to pay:

From that table, it would appear that before the homeowner grant,  the average home owner in Prince George can expect to pay $10.54779 per one thousand dollars of assessment.  So, a home assessed at $150,000.  would carry a tax bill of just over $1582.00

Again this year,  you can file for the homeowner grant application online.  You will need your tax notice handy as you have to fill in both a folio number and access code, both are noted on the tax bill.
