Police Drama on 2nd Avenue
By 250 News
RCMP in Prince George were called to the 700 block of Second Avenue just before two this afternoon after a man with an outstanding warrant for Statutory Release Suspension was spotted at a suspected crack shack in the area.
When Police made contact with the man, he refused to leave the residence. There were a number of people in that house at the time, so Police brought in a couple of trained negotiators who tried to get the man to open a line of communication. He refused to give himself up. Three women exited the house. Police say they kept trying to talk with the man, but he made threats that he had a shotgun.
Police got a warrant to enter the house, and two tear gas canisters were fired into the house. The male surrendered just before 6:00 this evening. A second man who was asleep in the house was sent on his way.
A 26 year old man is in custody on the initial warrant and police say they are reviewing the matter to see if other charges will be laid.
In all there were 6 officers, 2 negotiators, and a police service dog and handler on scene.
Police say they would like to thank the public who stayed clear of the area for the four hours the area had been cordoned off.
