Public Hearing for Liquor Store for 5th - Ospika
By 250 News
An application to have a land use contract ammendment for the corner of 5th and Ospika in Prince George will have a chance to go before a public hearing.
The applicants would like to add a liquor store to the building already on that site. City staff say the application should be denied because there are similar facilities within a set kilometer range, there have also been concerns about parking, and concerns expressed by the RCMP.
Still, Mayor Kinsley says he is surprised the RCMP have made some comments which is unusual on this kind of application. As for the parking concerns, the Mayor points out there has been both a convenience store and video store at the site for years, so parking cannot be a new concern.
Council has approved moving the application forward for first and second reading in order to have the item go before a public hearing.

Exactly. It is not a new concern. I has been a concern for a long time as far as I can recall. It is a very dangerous neighbourhood shopping area to access since it is so close to a corner with very little space to maneuver once you are on the parking lot. It is a poor design from a traffic safety point of view without a doubt.
