Nicole Hoar of Red Deer disappeared June 21, 2002

On Saturday, June 3rd, the reward that was offered in the investigation of the disappearance of Nicole Hoar, will be withdrawn.

The Hudson Bay Company had posted a $50 thousand dollar reward shortly after Nicole went missing in June of 2002. Nicole was in the Prince George region working as a tree planter when she disappeared.  She was last seen hitch hiking on Highway 16 west, heading to Smithers.

Rewards are a valuable tool used in police investigations, and certainly, when they are posted or the public is reminded of them,  police do receive some tips.  "Rewards are  offered with hopes someone who is financially motivated will come forward and offer information that can help resolve the case" says Constable Gary Godwin.  The reminder that the reward is going to be  withdrawn is likely to spark some new calls to investigators.

Despite tracking down thousands of tips  over the years, there has been no resolution to the case.  The disappearance of Nicole Hoar is  an ongoing investigation which is under review by major crimes investigators with "E Division".  That unit is reviewing all disappearances and deaths along Highway 16.  The review was one of the outcomes of the Highway of Tears Symposium held in Prince George at the end of March.
