It will be another couple of weeks before the draft report on the Highway of Tears Symposium is released.
Lheidli T’enneh Councilor Rena Zatorski says before the report goes public, they want to ensure there is nothing within the document that could jeopardize any ongoing police investigation.  “There is a great deal of material that is of a sensitive nature” says Zatorski   “we need to be respectful of the ongoing investigations, and the families involved”.
During the two day symposium which was held in Prince George at the end of March, RCMP announced a review of the disappearances and deaths that have taken place along highway 16 between Prince George and Prince Rupert.
The draft report contains 33 recommendations, both long term and short term, and Zatorski says all items are achievable.
“This is just the beginning” says Zatorski who says she is happy with the items outlined in the draft report “I think the public will be happy with it as well.”
The draft report will be released June 21st.
