Kelly Road Secondary School the scene of a bomb threat today

Classes at Kelly Road Secodary in Prince George, will resume tomorrow morning, but the awards ceremony that was supposed to take place tonight  (Thursday) has been postponed till further notice.

The changes in scheduling  are because of a bomb threat that forced the School District to close the School for the day, and send nearly 1,000 students home.

The RCMP have wrapped up their investigation and have concluded there was no substance to the allegations contained in a 9-1-1 call.  As welll, the RCMP, the administrative team of Kelly Road and members of School District 57's senior administration conducted a two hour sweep of the building  and found nothing of concern.

District Superintendent Dick Chambers says bomb threats are not uncommon in B.C. schools, especially at this time of the year, however the nature of this particular threat was such that extra caution was exercised.

The School District says counseling will be available to students and staff at Kelly Road School tomorrow as there is a potential for people to feel more vulnerable after an incident like this.

The District says if the person who made the threat is caught, he will face public mischief charges from the RCMP and if he is a student,  he will  be dealt with by the District's Student Conduct Review Committee.
