Prince George RCMP did open a number of other files within the last 24 hours, including an assault on a police officer, and a domestic dispute with shots fired.

Just after 4:30 Sunday morning, Mounties say a Constable was slightly injured in a scuffle with two uncooperative men who were allegedly intoxicated and lunging into traffic near the John Hart Bridge on Highway 97. The males had refused to abide by directions given to them, and would not provide the officer with their names.

Police say one male resisted arrest and a struggle ensued on the highway – then the second suspect jumped in an began trying to choke the Constable.

It was then police say a passing pulp mill worker on the way home from his shift pulled over...and pulled one of the men off of the officer, who was ultimately able to arrest both suspects. They are due in court Tuesday on charges including assaulting a police officer.

The Good Samaritan was not injured in the incident. One suspect was treated at hospital then released back into custody, and the Mountie suffered bruises and other minor injuries.

Prince George RCMP are also investigating a case of shots fired during a dispute at a residence west of City limits.

Police responded just before 10 Saturday night, and say a 37 year old man had fled the scene in a vehicle, while the occupants of the home in question were not injured. A firearm was seized from the scene by police.

And a break and enter at Occasions Gift Shop on Sintich Road early Sunday morning left the business heavily damaged, and likely a vehicle damaged as well.

RCMP say it appears someone backed a large truck through a brick wall, shattering three large windows to gain access to the premises. Authorities are hoping the public will be able to help investigators locate the suspect vehicle, which likely has significant rear-end damage.
