Community Grants Announced

The Regional District and its communities got a boost to their annual unconditional grants from the province this year.
Here is the just announced funding:
- The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George is receiving $85,000, compared to only $2,500 in 2005 an increase of $82,500
- The Village of McBride is receiving $209,959 for 2006, compared to $160,000 in 2005 - an increase of $49,959.
- The Village of Valemount is receiving $229,334 for 2006 compared to $184,385 in 2005 - an increase of $44,949
- The District of Mackenzie is receiving $295,971 compared to $213,551 in 2005 - an increase of $82,420
- The District of Vanderhoof is receiving $369,666 compared to $317,780 in 2005 - an increase of $51,886
- The District of Fort St. James is receiving $260,665 compared to $218,143 in 2005 - an increase of $42,522
- The Village of Fraser Lake is receiving $210,321 compared to $160,000 in 2005 - an increase of $50,321
Small Community Grants are unconditional and are based on a three part formula
- basic funding for all municipalities with a population less than 15,000
- population-based funding,
- property assessment-based funding.
These grants are for small and medium-sized municipalities to fund basic services for residents.
Regional District Grants are provided to regional districts with populations less than 250,000 to help fund basic administration and services.
