There are some new additions to Community Policing in Prince George.

The three civilian co-ordinators ( new positions) were introduced to media today.   They are Aidan Kelly, Wendy Moore, and Linda Parker.  The hiring of the three has  freed up four RCMP  officers to  go back to regular duties.

City Manager George Paul says the Community Policing initiative  is a back to basics approach that involves partnerships with the RCMP and with  Hub City Motors.

The Volkswagon dealership on Queensway  donated this black 2006 beetle as the new community police  vehicle.

The mission of community policing is to enhance the quality of life for the residents of prince george, through education, organization, and citizen involvement.

Today's unveiling of the  new Community Policing logo, and vehicle is one phase  of  the revamping of Community Policing in Prince George.

The next phase  will start when the downtown community poicing centre moves to its new location at 575 Brunswick Street. Also  revToday,

3 Women to replace 4 Policemen. Interesting.

No mention of the Volunteers who have done the brunt of the work for Community Policing over the years.

Rumour over the years has been that some officers were put into community policing as a diciplinary action.

Another prime example of **Nice Guy Reporting**
What do you mean by **Nice Guy Reporting** ?
And the picture would lead me to believe its one man and two women replacing the officers.
Hopefully the volunteers get their recognition...they keep the programs afloat.
I understand that R.C.M.P. officers don't like to be transfered to places that start with "Prince" or "Fort". How amusing.
Jigga. your right. I heard somewhere else that it would be 3 women and I didnt look at the picture. In any event the 3 will be on the City payroll along with the 4 police officers so this will be an increase to the City of a cost in the area of $300,000.00 per year (Salary and Benefits)

So we will now have Community Policing with paid City Staff and Volunteers. At what point will they get rid of the volunteers and add some more staff???.
Sounds to me like the plan might make sense on some levels, but I guess time will tell.
