Puddles are fun for everyone

So you think the weather in June was the pits?

Wrong.

This June was actually better than normal for Prince George.

According to Mark Madryga of Environment Canada, even though it seemed like we got a lot of cold rainy days, we actually had less rain and warmer days than normal.

"The average high for June is 19.5 degrees, with an average low of 7. That works out to a daily mean temperature of 13.3" says Madryga, "But this past June, we had average daily highs of 20.4 and lows of 8.5 which gave us a daily
mean temperature of 14.4" That's a full degree better than what we normally get.

What made this year seem so cold and dreary, was the record setting June of 2004. "That was a real scorcher" says Madryga, "The stats show days of 28, 28, 30, 29, 28, 30 ohh it was a hot one".

June 2004 was the exception rather than the rule. Madryga puts it in perspective "Normally June is a transitional month for B.C. as we get out of spring and move into summer."

The usual rainfall for June is 72.7 mm. Last month we had 61.2 mm

While there are no guarantees, Madryga has his fingers crossed that July will prove to be better
