The Prince George Community Foundation has landed some dollars from the City’s share of gaming revenue.

Prince George City Council has approved donating $100,000 a year from it’s gaming revenue funds to the Foundation.

The Foundation uses the income earned on investments to fund special community projects through grants.

Sounds like the PG Community Foundation and its Board will be supporting an increase in Gaming Facilties.
Ya think?
It appears to me that our city fathers continue to support, encourage and prefer to expand gambling, gaming, and associated activities in this community.

I can only think that this support is motivated by money. A reasonable thinking, caring family man is aware of the consequences of the expansion of these revenue sources. The costs and consequences are devastating. Financial ruin, marital breakdowns, single parent families, drugs, alcoholism, prostitution, break & enters, theft, vandelism etc. etc.

We don't need another study, survey or your opinion counts column.

When all hope is lost, nothing else matters. Many people have lost everything, and we have not only allowed it to happen, we have actually encouraged, condoned and promoted the activities that caused it. Shame on us. We should know better.

Would not a healthy community that caters to, fosters and encourages strong families, strong community values and some ethics provide more economic value to our community than the negative destructive direction we have been going?

The fruit we are seeing is from the seeds we have planted. Can we not see what is wrong with the way we have been doing things?

I am ready for a change of the way we do business in PG. Either we change the way, or we change the people. Chester
I would like to know what the Community Foundation is and does with that money.

Also I would like it to be public knowledge what the CEO and other managers of all the non-profit societies would be that are collecting either directly or indirectly public dollars or gaming revenue for their administration and dispersal.

It is simply to easy to call yourself a non-profit for good organization and then use its resources to enhance your own wellbeing at the neglect of the cause you carry the flag on behalf of. I have seen it myself, it happens all the time, and it usually involves policitcs, good friends-relatives, and politicians greasing wheels.
Chadermando - right on.
I am a "non-profit" organization. After the tax man gets done with me. I am sure that the "Community Foundation" would open it's books to whomever asks. All it takes is a phone call. If they don't let you see their books, I suggest you raise hell. Simple, eh?
And another thing, while were at it. Find out who makes the decisions on where the money is being spent. Find out their agenda. Everbody has one.
Thanks Owl, that helps.
