The new President of UNBC, Don Cozzetto, heads out on a northwest road trip this week to connect with communities.

Cozzetto says he wants to share his ideas on how to increase the University’s profile, and program offerings.  But he’s also looking forward to hearing ideas from residents of the northwest.

The four day trek starts with a meeting tomorrow morning, in Fort St. James with the Nak’azdli Band followed by a tour of the historic site.

The road trip wraps up Thursday with stops in Terrace and the Nass Valley

At at UNBC expense too no doubt.
or do we have to subsidise this too?
This sounds an awful lot like the tactics of someone else I know.....
Yes it is at UNBC expense. This is a very reasonable thing to do with a new President. Get him out in the areas that there is a campus of UNBC or the communities that they have alliances with.
What is 4 days-and in the immediate area?
Hardly costly-not worthy of mention.
That someone else you know, Gofaster, would not waste his good times-or any time, on a venture of this magnitude.
His tripping takes him much farther afield.
Not to mention far more expensive to boot!
It is great to see that a university prsident has taken an interest in our first nations. Best of luck in your endeavor Prsident Cozzetto.

A tank of gas and a couple off sleep overs. You cant' go wrong. I have to agree with trusted its far less money then the other guy spends of our tax money.
Just a point of information, the tax dollars that support the univerisity are provincial. That means the people in Ucuelet, Vancouver and Sparwood are also partners in this venture.
Even more than that, the feds provide support to post secondary education as well. So the poor people in Wasaga Beach, who have no university, pay for this trip as well .... in fact, that is likely all they will be paying, if that ...

;-)

Also remember, the good doctor is staying within the University district, sort of similar to the Mayor's frequent tours of the City to look at road conditions and speak to residents concerned about the road conditions.

There will come a time, however, when Don Cozzetto will be taking off to visit such places as the Khabarovsk State University of Technology to speak to them about research exchanges in environmental programs, the Karolinska Institute in Sweden to find out how their medical programs work, and so on. That's when it will take the taxes collected from Toronto to pay for the trips.

;-)
