Nineteen people were taken to Prince George Regional Hospital just before the noon hour today suffering from eye and skin irritation. They had been exposed to sulphur dioxide. The problem lead to the shutdown of one shift at the Rustad Sawmill on Pacific Street in the BCR site.
The 19 were expected to be treated and released from hospital, and the afternoon shift is expected to go ahead as planned.
The source of the sulphur dioxide has not been confirmed, however there have been suggestions it came from a neighbouring business.
