Fort St. John has once again hosted the Great Canadian Welding Competition, and the results are amazing!

Welders had just 29 hours to conceive, plan and build their sculpture, and had a choice of creating their sculptures to the theme of either "Time" or the "Northern BC Winter Games.

This entry, created by Randy Jordan, Justin Diehl, Jesse Diehl & Dave Diehl  captured both:

Their team walked away with the $5,000 prize for the shop welding outdoor category. Their sculpture has been purchased by the City and will be put on display somewhere in the community.

The welding competition is now in it’s third year - City Manager John Locher said, “When welders tinker, they produce great pieces of art and attraction... we wanted to highlight their ability to the community and also to start getting some street art in the City, and from that came the Great Canadian Welding Competition”.

I like welders. They were always great guys to drink beer with. I think they should stick with drinking beer and hang out in their welding shop building up worn parts and gluing stuff together.

We now have bears around the city, Mr PG with an apron. Only in Prince George.
