15 New Fires This Week

Prince George Fire Centre Crews have responded to 15 new fires since August 17th, ranging in size from just under one hectare to three and a half hectares.
Eleven of the fires were caused by human activity, including four abandoned campfires. Lightening caused the remaining four fires. Eight of the fires have been put out, five are being actioned by initial attack teams, and crews are monitoring two.
So far, there have been a total of 496 fires that burned 80,392 hectares in the Prince George Fire Centre. 101 of those fires were in the Prince George Zone. They have burnt 3,450 hectares.
The recent warm and dry weather has raised the fire danger to High to Extreme throughout most of the Prince George Fire Centre.
