UNBC is registering some growth.  Enrolment is up more than 6%.

President Don Cozzetto  says the  increased numbers are encouraging, but there is a lot of hard work ahead "Compared to two years ago, we’re doubling the number of high shcools we’re visiting this year."  He also thinks special projects, like the Northern Sports Centre, are making UNBC more attractive  to some students.

There are now 3612 students at UNBC  with some  specific programs showing favourable numbers including the new Master’s Degree in English and a Bachelor of Health Sciences program.  Master’s and Doctoral  student numbers are up 21% from 2005.

There are also increases in the number of First Nations Students up by 10% and there is an 11% increase in the number of international students.

Enrolment at UNBC has been fairly flat over the past three years and had declined about 3% from September 2004 to September 2005.

The UNBC Website for the fall semester 2005 shows total students 3561. They now saw that the 3561 number is for the Winter semester and that the number for the fall semester was 3395. This numbers game is beyond me. Also what is the difference between and Fall Semester and a Winter Semester. Using their original numbers of 3561 for the Fall Semester then the increase in enrolments is approx 1.1% not 6.4%. or an icrease of 51 Students.

Of the 51 student increase 18 would be international students and 32 would be first nations students. Using Don Cozzetto's number of an 11% increase in intl students and a 10% increase in First Nations.

2005 numbers showed 169 Intl Students and 327 First Nations Students.

So what is the actual increase in Students at UNBC 51 using their original number of 3561 for the fall semester 2005. Or the new revised number of 3395.

Someone more astute at this numbers game (Owl) than me may be able to figure it out. In the meantime I am sticking to the original numbers that were shown in their website all year ((3561)) which gives us a 1.1% increase in enrolments.
