Once again ICBC is launching its Zero Crash Month campaign.

The Insurance Corp says  in October, more than 15 hundred car crashes will take place in the North Central region of the Province, and there will be more than 200 injuries.

As was the case last year, drivers are invited to sign in and pledge to be a safe driver for the month of October, thereby qualifying for prizes.  This year, the prizes include a fully loaded 2007 GM Pontiac Torrent.
Comunities that register to take  part can win road safety grants. Last year, Kamloops  won the largest community grant of $35 thousand dollars as it posted a 30% reduction in  safety infractions.
Last year 55 thousand British Columbians signed up  for the challenge, if you want to take part this year you can sign up by  visiting this link www.zerocrashmonth.com.
It may be a little tougher to get through October without an infraction as police will be stepping up  their efforts as well.  They will be watching for infractions at intersections, and for those who aren't wearing a seatbelt.
Curious  about how your community stacks up for safety in October?  Here is ICBC's "Crash and Injury" prediction for communities in the North/Central region of the province:
