The Harper Government has the support of at least some of Opinion250’s readers when it comes to staying the course and carrying on with the scrapping of the long gun registry.

The Opinion 250 question was:

In the wake of the Dawson College tragedy should the  Harper goverment re-think its plans to scrap the firearms registry?

The results are in:

25.7% say YES

74.3% say NO

The government has already indicated it will carry on with its election promise, saying the long gun registry did nothing to  prevent the tragic events at Dawson College in Montreal.

The Government has also promised to continue on with plans to introduce stiffer sentencing for those convicted of weapons offenses.

Even those sites which allow voting only once do not have valid surveys. The most serious flaw is that they track only those who want to make a point. Due to that, hardly any online polls are representative of the general public's views. How many times have you received an e-mail asking you to vote in a site's survey? I have, many times. That makes them meaningless. Nevertheless, they can be fun, if nothing else.
Most people believe in honesty, they register once with the intent of seing what the general public is thinking. If you want to cheat you can vote twice or more in an election. If you stand in line for a free ice cream cone, you can return to the line and get a second, if you want to cheat. Most people don't cheat because they belive in honesty. For those who don't, they have to live with themslves. We believe the bulk of the Opinion250 audience is honest.
I agree with Ben. I only vote once to get my point across. Anyone who votes more than once is a loser.

These polls give us a quick insight into the thinking of the day, and probably those who think they are fixed beleive so because the polls go against what they think. Is that possible???
Ben says:
"Most people believe in honesty..."

Now we know what you think. What about your friend, the tooth fairy?
