The month started off very warm and dry with afternoon temperatures into the mid to upper twenties, more typical of August rather than September. All good things come to an end that that it did, temperatures plunged to well below normal values during the second week with some spotty precipitation. Daytime highs on the 14th only managed to climb to 9 degrees, a bit of a shock after the first week. Temperatures remained on the cool side until the last week of the month when high pressure, all be it on the weak side, pushed temperatures back to slightly above normal.  In the end, with the very warm start and rather placid end of the month, mean temperatures were almost 2 degrees above normal.
When it comes to precipitation, the monthly total of just over 43 mm was well short of the typical 52.5 mm.  Most of the rainfall happened  from the 17th through to the 21st with  just over 34 mm being recorded.
