Mayor Colin Kinsley says  Pacific Bio Energy has driven the last spike into a rail spur which will link it with CN’s mainline.

Pacific Bio Energy has five of its own rail cars to ship wood pellets.  Mayor Kinsley praised Pacific Bio-Energy for making the move to Millwaukee road which brings it  within the City’s boundaries, and the company’s growth  to its current position as a leading exporter of wood pellets world wide.

"This is great news" says Mayor Kinsley who says the pellet industry is clean energy which is a new use for the wood fiber which is flooding the market since the increased cuts to deal with the pine beetle infestation.

"This can only led to a community heat and powerplant" said the Mayor, who added there continues to be interest  from Japan and other countries about  the development of such community energy sources.

Now that Pacific Bio Energy is in the city, the residents can complain about the pellet plant dust. Pacific Bio can expect to be hassled all the time by the Clean Air mob about the dust.

Too bad Pacific Bio didn't learn a lesson from the Asphalt plants experience with these rascals. Stay out of the cities is the message, and take the jobs and shove it.
They have been shipping pellets out of Houston BC and Quesnel and South of Prince George for years. There is nothing new here. A large portion of this business used to go to Prince Rupert in rail cars for export, however with the Port Expansion in Prince Rupert Fairview Terminals has been torn down. There was some talk that facilities would be built in Kitimat to handle this traffic, but to my knowledge nothing has been done yet. I suspect that this business now goes through the Port of Vancouver for export.

As a matter of information pellets have been shipped to the U.S.A. for years especially to states like Kentucky etc; where they have huge horse populations. These pellets are used in the horse stalls to soak up urine etc; Apparenlty it does a better job than either hay, or sawdust, and is much easier to handle. The problem is, is that the profits after shipping are marginal.

In any event there is nothing new here, this has been going on for years.
