Its been a long wait, but Quesnel's G.R. Baker Hospital has a C.T. scanner.

The $1.65 million CT scanner is part of a host of upgrades for the hospital. The Quesnel CT Scanner Fundraising Committee raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars for the scanner which will not only benefit Quesnel and area patients, but will also act as a back-up for the CT scanner at Prince George Regional Hospital.

CT scanner will provide enhanced medical imaging services for Quesnel and the surrounding area. It also offers a back-up to the CT scanner at Prince George Regional Hospital. The cost of the project includes the equipment, renovations to G.R. Baker Hospital to build a room for the scanner, and electrical/computer system upgrades needed for the unit.

The scanner's final diagnostic accreditation is taking place, with patients expected to begin receiving scans in approximately two weeks.

Very nice to see more of this type of equipment available to those of us in the north.

Now, who has been trained in the operation of this equipment? The best equipment in the world has no value unless there are people properly trained in is use and also in analyzing the results. Chester
