The Regional District has appoionted Director Art Kaehn to the Omineca Beetle Action Coalition.

Director Don Zurowski said the communities of McBride, Valemount and Mackenzie cannot be left to stand alone, and he says the message must be repeated that the three communities must be included for beetle mitigation.

That was the first  of three mountain pine beetle  issues dealt with by the Regional District.  The second called for the Regional District to apply for funding from the UBCM for funds to deal with dead trees which are posing a fire  hazard in several areas of the Regional District.

The Regional District also approved continuing  a contract with TDB Consulting.  That  contract calls for TDB to develop and implement prescription plans to treat the areas which pose the highest wildfire threat on the 155 properties under the Regional District's jurisdiction.
