Police are continuing  their investigation into the death of a  Quesnel man  following a street fight in that community.

On Saturday, the 2st, shortly after 6.00 p.m. Quesnel RCMP were called to the Mac’s Milk convenience store on Anderson Drive after it was reported that two men had been involved in a fight.
One man punched the other and he apparently fell to the ground striking his head. The victim was conscious and responsive when police arrived and he was taken to G.R. Baker Memorial hospital with undetermined  head injuries.
The victim's condition began to worsen and he was transported to Kelowna General hospital on Saturday night, and was operated on 6.30 a.m. this morning for his injuries. He died in hospital from those injuries.
His identity is being withheld by police pending permission from the family.
Meantime police are seeking help from anyone who might have witnessed the fight to come forward so that more can be learned about the altercation.
Police say the other person who was involved in the fight left the scene prior to the police arrival.
The RCMP North District Major Crimes Unit is investigating the death and people are asked to call the RCMP at (250) 992-9211 if they have any information.

And backyard teenage brawls are not illegal?
"One man punched the other and he apparently fell to the ground striking his head".

The end cause appears to be the falling to the ground and striking his head.

I think we need to read this in conjuction with the "it's okay for consenting 12+ year olds to fight on private property according the RCMP" story. Perhaps some people on here can connect the two reports in such a way that they understand that such is an attitude no one should promote.
.... sorry, acrider54, had the window open and did not post for a while since I left the computer to do something else ... should have checked.
That is a risk anyone takes that gets involved in a fight. I once (early 90's) had a friend who was being beaten up at the overdrive by an ex-girlfriends new jelous boyfriend. I asked him to stop a number of times and he ignored me until I threw a few of my own punches to break it up. It knocked him out cold and broke his ankle falling in the process, and could have been much worse. An RCMP officer watched the whole thing and told me to move on after giving me a break. I've avoided those kinds of situations ever since even when they find me. Its a danger that anyone engaged in a fight will face. Usually there is more to the story than who lost the fight.

I figure if it was an unprovolked attack the guy should face murder charges, but if it was provolked it opens up a whole new can of worms and mistakes or freak events do happen.
Hay Ben, if you have a delete, you can delete the above post. Pretty stupid on second thought.
