Some residents of Braeside Rd in the area between Vanderhoof and Ft St. James are heading off to motels in Vanderhoof today after being without hydro power since last Friday.

At least 8 residents along the road have also been without phone service as well.

Phone repair crews say it is difficult to say just how many people are without power or phone. One repairman said, “You’ll be working on a line when someone will drive up and tell you they also have been without phone service “.

Upwards of 2,000 home are still without power in the region between Vanderhoof and Smithers and northward into Ft St. James. Hydro workers say in many cases, because of the heavy snow fall, in the course of a kilometer you can find several breaks in the line.
