By 250 News
The possibility that some packed meats from Maple Leaf Foods may have been tampered with has lead to a recall of some prepackaged sliced meats. Seems workers at the packaging plant discovered syringe casings during the production process.
Most of the products are packaged under the Schneider's Lifestyle brand and are the 125 gram package size, they are:
- Fat Free Cooked Ham Sliced - Best Before Date DE 29
- Fat Free Cooked Ham Sliced - Best Before Date JA 04
- Fat Free Turkey & Ham Sliced - Best Before Date DE 30
- and the final product is the one kg (2.2 lbs) Kent Smoked Hams, Best Before Date of JA 01
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Maple Leaf Foods are conducting an investigation of the suspected tampering and the case has been referred to the police.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products and at this time no tampered product has been found at the retail level.
