It has taken some time, but there are finally some details of the upcoming trip to Paris by the Municipal Finance Authority.

The Chair of the Municipal Finance Authority, Frank Leonard, says he, along with Vice Chair Colin Kinsley and the Executive Director of the MFA are going to Paris , France next Wednesday November 15th, through to Friday for a Credit Communal.

Leonard says the Finance Authority will meet with a number of groups from Europe who buy Municipal Bonds.  He explains that the Finance Authority is like a cooperative and this is the forum for similar agencies from BC, Alberta and Europe to deal with the purchase of Municipal bonds.

Leonard says the work is important and to not go might be seen as a snub to some of the purchasers of the bonds.

Four years ago the Credit Communal met in Victoria, BC.

When asked earlier about the meetings, Vice Chair Colin Kinsley's reply was "Sorry this information is confidential”.

Way to go....Kinsley you sure seem to be using any reason to take trips at our expense...
is it needed, I don't think so...
I won't be voting to return you to continue these actions...
Actually I didn't vote for you last time and told you so....
I voted for Colin, and will again. What's the big deal about Paris, just another old city with problems I don't find attractive. The place is a dive and hardly anyone can understand English. Who would want to go there? I'd rather go fishing or do something fun. Traveling half way around the world isn't fun. Boring.
Poor old Yama.
Hey yama, maybe you can send your credit card along with him so the rest of us won't have to cover the cost of his expensive travel habits. Who benefits from this trip in the end?? Is our fearless leader buying or selling municipal bonds?? What's a Municipal Bond? Something a bunch of politicians made up so they could all travel halfway around the world to spend municipal funds and fill each other's pockets with some easy to come by cash? Municipal Finance Authority?? Is that the same as having the power to spend our tax dollars without answering to us? That decision goes down to a few select chair people?? Just curious.

Hey, I didn't vote for the plug either (and won't again), but I still gotta put up and live with his antics and bad habits.
Sounds like we are becoming more socialist every day. If this keeps up the NDP will be out of business. Is Colin thinking of buying up the remainder of Terasen and needs to expand the bond market for our City.

Cheers
Whether or not the trip is important or just another excuse for Colin to see the world and sample exotic refreshments on our dime, I guess, is not the most worrisome issue. I am more concerned with Colin's total arrogance and sense of entitlemnt in response to queries about this trip. Can you spell " past Mayor of Vernon" or "Federal Liberal party". They, too, had a sense of arrogance and entitlement. And yes Yama, maybe you could give him your credit card and he'll send you the T-shirt!
I've heard he isn't running for re-election next term. I have too assume this is the case based on his actions (or lak of (cameron street bridge)) lately
I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Kinsley still has interests in Terasen...
I heard the same thing Josey, so he has to get all the trips in now that he can....
maybe he will get an amphibian caught in his throat....lol...
Will he send us a post card? He would if he cared.
Why do they need three people to attend this Communal. One,would suffice, two is plenty, three is overkill. I suspect they all want travelling companions. Plus I would expect that its all expenses paid for by the Municipal Finiance Authority.

I think Colin will run for Mayor in the next election. He would want to be around for 2010 and attend all the functions as the Mayor of Prince George, plus, the Mayors job pays $84,000.00 per year, plus expenses, plus another $17,000.00 per year from the Regional Disrict, so why would you throw away $100,000.00 per year plus all the perks.???
Except for global friendship - one person is overkill on this trip. And so okay, the trip is all expenses paid for by the MFA, but whooaaa, where do the funds that line that pocketbook come from????? Do they sell cookies at bake sales???
Do they own a fax machine ?
Do they know that we have technology to do business all over the world without actually going there ?
Colin will run again. That was his line last time; that he wouldn't run again. Increases his popularity for those who are afraid to lose him!
You guys are silly. Hee Hee!

Hey, I heard on the news that the ethnic ghettos around Paris are getting ready for their big annual riot. That's my boy Colin - he's getting a ring side seat. Lucky fella.
They are shopping our low risk ability to service debt so that the Europeans can feel confident that we can borrow printed Euro's and pay them an interest dividend. It sends the signal that debt is a big part of the current city fiscal future, and that debt planning and shopping is needed to mitigate this cancer or realise its full potential. Depends on your perspective.
Hey, is anyone keeping track of the days our elected officials are "Not Working"?? Wanna make sure their paycheques reflect those days off.
