Targeting Northern BC Sport

PacificSport Northern BC announced that over half a million dollars will be invested into sport for Northern BC. The new PacificSport BC Integrated Performance System is providing financial support linked to a national sport strategy for targeted athletes and coaches.

Funding will go directly to coaching and services for area athletes. Northern BC targeted regional coaches for basketball, soccer, speedskating, curling, alpine skiing, gymnastics and wheelchair basketball. Provincial coaches for cross country skiing and biathlon will be based in Prince George.

“The new Integrated Performance System provides significant increases in the opportunities for athletes and coaches in Northern BC,” said Anne Pousette, who is a board member of PacificSport Northern BC.

“Not only does it dramatically increase the funding in our region for coaching and delivery of programs and services, it also directly ties our athletes and coaches to the resources that are essential to move to the next level.”
