Residents to See City's Air Report
By 250 News
Residents from the Heritage and North Nechako neighbourhoods who have been vocal about the quality of air in their areas, will meet with the City's Ecnvironment Manager today.
This will be the first look at the report which was developed by the City's Environment Manager to deal with their concerns , in particular, the asphalt plants. There are three operating in the viciinity of the two neighbourhoods, and residents have been complaining long and loud about the smell, the noise, and the health concerns.
While there are provincial regulations covering asphalt plants, residents want the City to take responsibility for the health of its residents, and take action to ensure the plants are operating within acceptable limits.
Just last week, about a half dozen residents converged on Pittman Asphalt on Ottway Road to picket the company because of overnight noise levels. Pittman's Regional Manager says his company was not responsible for the noise levels.
The environmental report, is expected to be delivered to Prince George City Council in December.
