The 16-97 Economic Alliance has asked the Regional District of Fraser Fort George for $50 thousand dollars in funding to pursue opportunities that will benefit the communities (or development "clusters") along the two highways.

The plans are envisioned to be a new catalyst for directing investment and economic opportunities.  The Alliance is not intended to replae work already being done to  attract  investments to the region, rather to enhance the work already being done. Although some municipalities have economic development projects, Alliance Rep Kathy Scouten, says this Alliance would coordinate and stimulate opportunities  involving communities.

The funding request represents just 13% of the overall budget with other Regional Districts paying 5%.  The amounts for Regional Districts are set on a per capita basis.

Director Don Zurowski says the Board would be "Cavalier" if it didn't put support behind this project as it will give the region more punch as it pushes  other levels of government when it comes to beetle mitigation plans.

The funding request has been put forward to the Regional District's budget process for 2007.

I don't see the plan here. What are the priority objectives? Economic clusters sounds vague to me.
What is with "enhancing" and "directing investment"? Money goes wherever there is a hope for a return in the form of a profit. It aint rocket science. Geez. Money for nothing and no chicks either.
