PEDEN HILL CLOSED!

Oh this is nasty!
This is a shot of traffic, backed up as it approaches the lights at Vance Road on Highway 16 westbound. The hill was too slippery for semis to make the grade, some pulled over to chain up, but the three trucks can’t move anywhere.
Peden Hill is too slippery to head westbound, and very slippery heading in to the City, so the Hill is now closed.
Police have put a call in to YRB to get to the scene ASAP to try and clear and sand the hill.
Meantime... another problem on Carney between Massey and 15th. It too is slippery. Traffic can’t make the grade.
Police now say if you don’t have to be on the roads, stay home.

I guess the only place to get the important breaking local news is here.
Shame on our mainstream media.
As for the provincial, national and international news, why would I get it from the local fishwrap? Google and Yahoo! News, NY Times online, BBC, etc. give it to me faster and better, not to mention the bloggers doing their part in niche areas.
