The Regional District of Fraser Fort George is breathing a sigh of relief that its computer systems didn’t drown in the recent sprinkler break.
Tuesday morning, the 1st and 2nd floors of the 7 year old Regional District Building were under 2 inches of water when a sprinkler burst.
Restoration crews were called in to mitigate the damage, and while there is no damage estimate, Administrator Derek Bates says insurance adjusters have been in to check, for structural and mechanical damages.
The Regional District is on the hook for a $2500 dollar deductible in its insurance policy. “Staff were great” says Bates, as they helped wring out the soggy stuff. “We were most happy to see that our computer network and servers stood up to the incident, all the equipment got wet, but all systems are functioning.”
Bates says the critical corporate records are kept in waterproof flame proof boxes so those documents were not at risk.
