The City of Ft. St John says it will have the proposals for design and build for its new twin ice arena and ice oval by next month.

City Manager John Locher says this is a fixed price contract of $30 million dollars.

The state of the art facility would be only the third of its kind in Canada. The province of British Columbia has already committed $12.5 million dollars to the project. Locher says "We haven’t received a commitment from the feds as yet; we are still working on it. "

Time for an opera house in PG. It would only be the second of its kind in Canada. We can beat Ft. St. John at this game.

;-)
Oh sure-three jumps, a hop and a skip, and Prince George is on the rebound? Believing we can Beat Ft. St. John is an escape from reality!
Who is going to take charge of this giant leap?
Gee, maybe it will be the grand finale for George Paul-now that would be an accomplishment-and a first!
Keep the faith I say-against all odds!
Seems to be an advantage for Ft. St. John to have a Conservative MP in town.

$12.5 million advantage.

Now, why hasn't OUR local conservative MP secured the requested federal contribution for the P.G. Airport runway extension yet?
Diplomat.

The Airport is owned by the Federal Government. It has been leased to the Airport Authority for 60 Years with an option to renew. The Airport Authority does not have to make any lease payments until 2011. The Federal Government has forgiven something in the area of 4 Million dollars debt for the Airport Authority. If you added it all up they have already made a significant donation to this **Bone Headed** idea.

The humourous thing about this Aiport Expansion is that the BC Government gave the Northern Development Initiative 135 Million dollars from the money they got from the sale of BC Rail. The Northern Delelopment Initiative then loaned 11 Million to the Airport Authority, for the Runway Expansion.

So in essence what we have here is money from the Provincial Government going to be used for an Airport expansion, on an Airport that is owned by the Federal Government. In other words the Provincial Government subsidizing the Federal Government.

I suspect that most people will not be able to see the humour in this, nor will they be able to see how utterly stupid the whole charade is.
