It didn’t take long for the old Tilden Rent a Car building to come tumbling down.

The building on 7th Avenue is one of the last to be removed so construction can begin on the underground parking lot, then the new Gaming Centre.

This photo shows the Caterpillar giving the cone shaped building a couple of nudges..........

Then, after a good push,  the  walls collapsed

Tilden will be occupying new space that will be connected to the Gaming Centre.

There is just one building left on the site which will need to be demolished before full construction can begin.  That  one building is the former home of the United Way.  Crews have been clearing out the interior preparing for its demolition.  It is expected to be torn down sometime next week.

Tilden hasn't existed for years. Why would it operate space in the new building? Perhaps you meant National.....
Notice how fast gambling centres get built!not so for bridges hey!
What if the Cameron Street bridge could be a toll bridge? Could work.
If the Cameron St. Bridge was a toll bridge nobody would use it. They would all go to the John Hart Bridge as they do now. In order to make it pay you would have to make both bridges, toll bridges.

Putting in toll bridges would guarantee that somebody would not get re-elected. (Guess who)
cone?????? looks like a pyramid to me ... *s*

"I think I will go to visit the cones in Egypt next year."

Sorry .... could not resist it ...

Where is the heritage commission when you need them? They could have transported this building almost anywhere ... even the tourism site on the highway. Oh well.

"otice how fast gambling centres get built!not so for bridges hey!"

Nothing beats the speed at which a free-standing Tim Hortons building goes up.
Does Tim Hortons coffee still taste the same since the Americans (Those people we love to hate) bought them out????
