RCMP are seeking an appeal into the dismissal of charges against a former Prince Goegre Police Officer that he engaged young prostitutes.
Const. Justin Harris had appeared before and RCMP tribunal to face the charges but it was successfully argued that the police had not brought charges within a reasonable time.
The charges against Harris occurred around the same time as Judge David Ramsey was charged in connection with his involvement with prostitutes.
One of the prostitutes, who came forward in the Ramsey Case, also gave a statement to police in connection with Harris.

Harris remains on suspension with full pay awaiting the decision of the appeal

Suspension with full pay? When I get that it is called a "holiday".
Ya I to would like full pay while i slack around home, sled, quad, fish etc....must be nice to have a slacker governemnt job where when you screw up really badly they make you stay home, but still pay you!
Although it is awful what Const. Harris is alledged to have done, the RCMP will never win the appeal. They are just doing this to try to cover up their collossal screw up. Sooner or later, they will have to allow Const. Harris to return to work, or buy him out if they really don't want him in the fold anymore. What most people don't realize is that the 1 yr. limitation period is a basic right whether it applies to a civilian or a police officer. How would you like it if a police officer decided to write you a ticket more than a year after you were caught speeding? When the RCMP goes after one of its own, it must follow the rules just like they must when prosecuting a member of the public.
"follow the rules..." Yeah, right... the biggest street gang in the world gets to make their OWN rules, as a does every unchecked, power-drunk, self-policing organization which is not required to answer for their actions. And before anyone jumps up to tell me what a difficult, under appreciated job they do protecting us from the "bad guys", take a realistic look at what we have created and allowed in our blind faith in human police justice. Hard to look the other way when it's your family's turn.
lmorg,

I am still laughing that you compared this to a speeding ticket.....when you wake up and smell the coffee like the rest of us, feel free to correct your mistake.
Many crimes have no time limit.
You can be charged with serious stuff for an unlimited time after you commit the offense.
This is not a speeding ticket here we are talking about.
Marty & RRrabbit,

The rcmp did not make up their own rules, parliament created the rcmp act. And if you know anything of the inner world of the rcmp, the Truth is, the rcmp is like a mother wolf, it will eat their young (members) in order to survive and look good to the point of doing things that disregard the member's rights. As for you, marty, I was not comparing Harris' allegations to a speeding ticket....I was talking about respecting limitation periods in law.. A member can face allegations under the rcmp act that are not even remotely criminal in nature. Was Harris charged criminally? No. Or is that still in the works???
The law says that solicitation for the purposes of prostitution is a summary conviction offence which has a 6 month limitation of action, unless it is with a person under 18. Then it becomes more serious.
Legalize prostitution and clean it up.
Legalize prostitution? There goes the marriage idea. Me? I've never paid for it...directly. Ha ha ha
"is like a mother wolf"... maybe... but I would suggest more like that "City within a city" with respect to housekeeping.

Prostitution is only a problem because the government hasn't figured out a clean, simple way of taxing and controlling it. The rest is just noise.
The article reported "RCMP are seeking an appeal into the dismissal of charges against a former Prince Goegre Police Officer that he engaged young prostitutes."

An important part of this issue would be how young were they? If they were under the age of consent then I think it should be looked into further, and if so why weren't charges laid? I think it is sickening that a grown man would be interested sexually in teenage girls, or at least actually doing it. It sad these girls grow up in that kind of environment, and do not have a decent childhood.
