Mayor Colin Kinsley presents George Paul with the road sign that carries the City Manager's name.

It isn’t a big road,  in fact, it is pretty much  a laneway.  It is the stretch of road betweeen the soccer fields and the aquatic centre, and it has a new name  "George Paul Lane".

It is perfect that it is in the 1700 block, as Paul served 17 years in the post as City Manager.

The naming of the lane is to recognize  George Paul as he leaves the post at the end of this month.  The presentation was made at the last City Council meeting George Paul served as City Manager.

Mayor Colin Kinsley made the presentation to George Paul on behalf of  the entire City of Prince George. "You have been an incredible asset to the City of Prince George" Mayor Kinsley told the retiring City Manager.

George Paul's replacement is Derek Bates,  who will leave a similar post at the Regional District of Fraser Fort George.

On behalf oof all the city?

I didn't get any say in this...

I guess Kinsley and the flunkies are the city....
at least in their wee minds...and I guess they think they have at least one vote now.

My opinion
DO WE HAVE A ROAD IN PG LEADING TO A LARGE TOILET. MAYBEE WE COULD NAME IT AFTER THE PRESENT MAYOR AND COUNCIL.
giterdun.... why do you think they call it the "bowl" area...??? ;-)
Lets hope that Mr Bates has more balls to tell the Mayor what he can or canot do. Lets see some management at City hall instead of study after study and get bogged down in rhetoric.

Cheers
How about naming a pothole repairing truck after the soon to be ex-mayor? It can be a "Dodge" truck with many miles on the odometer and can run on a combination of gas and alcohol. It can be a non starter at times, balky to steer in your opinionated direction but is dependable only by sticking around for too many years. Due to the fact that you just can't get rid of it on a trade in every four years.
Oh I doubt that kimbo....

Oh and Harbinger maybe he can drive across the Cameron Street Bridge at an altitude of 1 foot too....
I am pleased to see a change in the position of City Manager. I only hope that the best candidate was selected for the position. Nothing against Derek Bates at all.

A head hunter was hired at considerable expense. It is my hope that his recommendations were taken into consideration in the selection.

Freedom of Information should allow us to review the process, shouldn't it? The process, the correspondance, the phone calls, e-mails, faxes and letters???

I think it's time for me to exercise my rights as a long time citizen of this city to look into how some of these decisions are arrived at. Chester
