A 25 year old man is to appear in court today on several charges  after a taxi cab  driver was robbed.

Prince George RCMP say  Tuesday night, a male fare was picked up by a cab operator and driven to the 2300 block of VIctoria Street.  That is where the male passenger pulled a knife held it to the driver and demanded cash. He got away  with a small amount of money.

Police located a suspect the next evening.  He is in custody and  is facing charges that include robbery, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and uttering threats.

The in car cameras are a good idea, however if someone is bound and determined to rob a cabbie, the best item to have in the cars in addition to a camera is a plexiglass divider and to have the taxis no longer permit fares to ride in the front seats. I know, I know, its not comfortable, but these are the times in which we live in. Its a necessity.
