The new and improved UNBC campus in Terrace welcomes students January 3rd. The new campus is nearly triple in size from the original UNBC space. The renovation includes 7 classrooms and seminar rooms ( including video conference classroom and 28-seat computer tab) and flexibility to create a large public/lecture meeting room. There are also 9 administrative and faculty offices, office space for graduate students, a student lounge and study area, and research space. A second phase of renovations will add classroom and faculty space.

“Unlike our old location in Terrace, the new campus provides greater opportunities for us to grow and expand our offerings in response to increased local demand,” said Judith Lapadat, Chair of UNBC’s Northwest Campus.

“This fall, we’ll be adding a Bachelor of Education degree program and welcoming Nursing students who will be completing their degrees with UNBC after taking the first two years of the program locally at Northwest Community College.”

UNBC President Don Cozzetto called the new campus great news for UNBC and Terrace.

“This new campus is vital to increasing our profile in Terrace and allowing us to respond to local needs for new courses and degree programs.”

Renovations to the new Terrace campus have been completed by UNI Construction with repairs to the roof undertaken by 101 Industries of Kitimat. The purchase of the building was made possible by $972,000 in funding from the Government of British Columbia.

I hope this new campuses finances aren't screwed around like the main campus was. Maybe they should hire economics students from Simon Fraser University. It is on a hill, too! Coincidence, eh?
Hey, can we get some more details of the finances of the main campus that were screwed around?

Isn't this something the Board of Governors should know about?

Perhaps you can present your findings to them at one of their meetings. They have their annual planning meeting coming up at the end of the month.
The above report is just a copy from the UNBC Media releases web page.

The issue up on the hill is that the amount of students and funding from the government can't support that size of facility. There are talks of about 30 layoffs and other cut backs to happen shortly. Should know more by the end of the month.

The BOG has more than known about what has been going on for the past years, they approved it all.

The new president just has a different way of dealing with budget shortfalls. Sort of a live within your means sort of approach versus a lets build it and they will come approach.

Now for the real question. Is this the reason for the change at the top that is not being spokne about since Jago was a well-liked individual? Was Jago the last of the "growth" years presidents, now to be replaced by a few "consolidation" presidents?
Another sign of the impending implosion of the entire system we live by. Have your popcorn ready for the show.

Hey owl, got any ideas about tax assessments ?
;-)
Well, all the interesting forums are closed for comment, so here we are talking about Terrace.
The place with a new school, but the locals say no jobs, no hope, no future.

Is this true ?

At the very least it could be labelled as a hiding spot for Bin, or maybe harboring "weapons of mass destruction" (being frozen sockeye, dropped from a plane) They say it takes a silver bullet to kill a werewolf, and George W is as close to a monster as I've ever seen...
