Do they provide any information about how this compares with similar road checks in past years at the same time?

Are we improving?

Is something working?
Not very strong numbers for the number of vehicles checked. I think it says a lot when they have to dig for motor vehicle act infractions at an "impaired driving" roadblock, to justify the time spent there. There were more MVA offences (by 1) than there were impaired driving charges.
That means that 12 people who were driving home, not drinking, went home with a ticket anyway because they didn't fix their headlight or have their driver's licence on them to go to the store and back.

How does this compare ? Try stopping 15 vehicles in a row and all of them have been drinking in some amount. Not too many years ago, that was.

I think if we want to have any more effect on drinking and driving, than what we already have had, we have to change the way we are doing what we are doing. Now we are after the chronic drunks, and we don't usually catch them at roadblocks, we usually catch them at fatals.
