Circle next Wednesday on your calendar, the leader of the Federal Green Party is coming to Prince George.

Elizabeth May is set to have a sit down with media one week from today at  Books and Company.  That will be followed by a dinner for members and Green Party supporters  which will also take place  at the Art Space upstairs from Books and Company.

The evening in P.G.  wraps up with a public event at  the Canfor Theatre at UNBC from 7:00 to 9:00.

May  has received several awards for her environmental work and has written five books, the most recent being "How to Save the World in Your Spare Time". She was selected leader of the Green Party of Canada last August.

My question for Elizabeth May would be to ask if the federal green party supports the BC Citizens Assembly BCSTV system of voting, or is the green party going to duck this issue calling it provincial so they don't have to express support?

So far the BC liberals, n.d.p., and BC green party have all come out opposed to this system of voting. A voting system that was created by the grass roots jury of BC citizens, and supported by 60% of BC voters in 98% of the BC legislative ridings last provincial election.

Next only to the environment in the next election you can bet electoral reform will be high on the voters agenda IMO. I believe most voters reject the green party same old same old proportional voting proposal that makes balkanized party power into a kind of aristocracy of dysfunction.

I think the green party could make inroads if they could accept the will of the people on our majority choice for a voting system should any electoral reform be pursued. Otherwise its same old same old.
