He's controversial, but that is just what the Doctors ordered.  David Suzuki will be the key speaker one week from tonight.

Dr. Bert Kelly, spearheading the annual Dr. Bob Ewart Memorial and Lecture says "We choose Dr. David Suzuki (shown at right) to speak to our lecture this year in spite of knowing that he is a controversial figure in this area. At lot of people in the forest industry don’t support his views".

"We have people who perhaps would not come to the memorial because of his views but you have to only look at recent polls to see that the environment has replaced health care as the main issue in Canada that people want to deal with. Our committee said well, all we would like people to do is come and sit down and listen to him whether you agree with him or not. "

Dr. Kelly says 450 out of the 600 tickets available for the event have been sold.

The dinner goes on Saturday January 27th at the Civic Center. Tickets can be purchased at the UNBC ticket center. They cost $100 dollars per person.

What no takers?

Cheers
I won't be seeing him. I don't wanna pollute the air with my SUV going to see him. Did he fly in to Prince George on a ozone unfriendly airplane? Ride his bicycle from the airport? If he stays overnight at one of our hotels, is he gonna crank up the thermostat? Hope he doesn't send out any drycleaning while in town. "Mr. Zero growth" does not impress me. Nevertheless, welcome to P.G. Mr. S.
A hundred dollars for a ticket to see good ol' Dave? I don't think so, Tim. Given my country's penchant for taxation, I would have to earn $140 dollars to buy that ticket. The name is Tucker. Not Sucker.
Undoubtably the tickets are printed with environmentaly friendly ink on recycled paper
