Two Prince George residents  have been hit with a series of charges  following the investigation of a home invasion at the start of the New Year.

Just after midnight on January 2nd, a College Heights resident opened his door to what he thought was a lone woman in distress.  Instead, he was faced by a male with a handgun.  The female and male forced their way into the home.

The 24 year old victim and his 24 year old girlfriend were bound and held at gunpoint for nearly an hour and a half as the captors demanded  the two hand over money  from a safe they believed was in the home.  Frustrated they weren't able to locate a safe, the captors took the victim's car and some other valuables and fled the scene.

The vehicle was located a couple of days later in Prince George.

Prince George RCMP now report  23 year old Amie Louise Fischer, and 29 year old James Wayne Peters of Prince George have been charged with  robbery with a firearm, extortion with the use of a firearm, break and enter to commit an indictable offence, unlawful confinement and use of a firearm during the commission of an indictable offence.

Police say the victims don't know the accused, and it is believed the victims were chosen because of their relationship to a prominent  business family in Prince George.
