Patti Knezevic and her Prince George teammates find themselves in a 4-way tie for first place after two days of the BC Scotties Tournament of Hearts, provincial women’s curling championship in Kamloops. Skip Knezevic, third Tracey Jones, second Kay Lynn Thompson and lead Melinda Kotsch scored a pair of victories in the second day of the provincials. In the afternoon draw, Knezevic’s Prince George Golf and Curling Club team made short work of Maria Mallett of New Westminster 9-2 in 8 ends. A steal of 2 after a blanked first end set the tone for the Prince George rink in building a 5-1 cushion after 5 ends. It was a come-from-behind victory in the evening draw for Knezevic. Trailing 6-5 after eight ends, the Prince George team scored a deuce in the ninth end closing out Jill Winters of Nelson 7-6.

After four draws of the BC championship, Knezevic, Kelley Law of New Westminster, Ashleigh Clark of Richmond and Allison MacInnes of Kamloops are 3-1. Clark handed MacInnes her first lost with an extra end victory in the evening draw.

The next two games will go along ways in determining if the northern champs from Prince George will qualify for the play-offs. Knezevic goes against former Canadian champ Kelley Law in the afternoon before an evening contest against Kamloop’s Allison MacInnes.

The top team in the round robin will automatically qualify for the January 28th final, meeting the winner of the Saturday night semi-final between the second and third place teams.
